Abstract

AbstractThe egg and five nymphal instars of Nala lividipes are described. Instars are defined by the number of antennal segments and degree of wingbud development. Measurement and analyses of other body characters confirmed such definitions, although some overlap between instars occurred within each character, especially between later instars. Nymphs of N. lividipes can be distinguished easily from those of Labidura truncata Kirby (Labiduridae), Marava sp. (Spongiphoridae) and an unidentified species (Anisolabididae) using pygidial morphology.
