Abstract
Keloid treatment represents a therapeutic challenge. New adjuvant therapy is needed to reduce the high recurrence rate (50%) of excised keloids. To describe the method for using imiquimod 5% cream in the prevention of keloid recurrence after surgery. This is a review of the scientific rationale and clinical experience of using imiquimod 5% cream for keloid management. Topical application of imiquimod 5% cream after surgery reduces keloid recurrences.
