Abstract

Abstract N-Heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) synthesized from triazolium, imidazolium salts are versatile catalyst for reversing the polarity of certain functional groups. The in situ generated N-heterocyclic carbene from azolium salt is trapped by Palladium ion leading to NHC–Palladium complexes. NHCs behaves as an efficient nucleophilic catalyst with strong σ -donating character, due to this it can easily bind with a range of metallic and non-metallic centre. These complexes show versatile catalytic activity in various cross coupling reaction namely Suzuki-Miyaura, Sonogashira, Hiyama and Buchwald Hartwig. The Chemical stability, wide range of application, recyclability and lack of toxicity, these are the some characteristics of NHCs-Pd complexes. The present study is a mini-review with a selection of best papers focusing on coverage of potential impact of NHCs-Pd complex on catalysis.
