Abstract

Imidazole was isolated from Lens culinaris seeds as its dansyl derivative and shown to be identical to a synthetic standard by co-chromatography, 1H NMR and EIMS. Chromatographic evidence indicated that it was also present in the seeds of 11 other legumes, 30% of those tested.
