Abstract

Breast cancers have traditionally been classified based on histology. However, with the development in imaging modalities and available treatment options, it is imperative to also focus on the molecular classes of breast cancer. Molecular profile and gene expression are important predictors of treatment response and overall prognosis. Radiologists should have a good understanding of molecular categories of breast cancer along with their imaging hallmarks. Highlights: • To familiarize the readers with the principal biomarkers and molecular classes of breast cancer. • To highlight the characteristic imaging features of each molecular class of breast cancer. • To focus on the pivotal role of molecular classification in the dynamic model of breast cancer treatment.
