Abstract

Imaging plates have been used as position sensitive detectors for positrons. A linear relation is obtained between the positron fluence and the output signal intensity readout by a “PIXsysTEM II” (pixelized to 25 μm×25 μm ), using 58Co and 22Na positron emitters. The linearity extends to six decades from 10 5 to 10 11 positrons/cm 2. The plates are good to use for positron microscopy. Sensitivities of one γ-ray photon relative to a positron are 0.0125, 8.28×10 −3 and 3.4×10 −3 for 65Zn, 58Co and 22Na, respectively.
