Abstract

The article analyzes the image of the USSR leaders on the covers of the American magazine “Time”. The relevance of the topic is determined by the problems related to the formation of the country’s leader’s image in the foreign press. The purpose of this study is to identify the features of the formation of the visual image of Soviet leaders and the USSR from 1923 to 1991 on the covers of “Time” magazine, one of the most famous American magazines in the world. The article provides a brief history of the creation of the innovative and unique American magazine “Time”, analyses theoretical aspects of the formation of the leader's image of Russia and the USSR in the USA. The role of stereotypes in the formation of a political leader's image is examined in detail.
