Abstract

Modulation transfer function (MTF) performance of indirect detectors based on CsI(Tl) scintillator is commonly worse than that of the direct detector, which is based on aSe photoconductor, because of light-photon scattering in the scintillator layer. In this paper, the MTF performance of indirect detector were improved from an image restoration technique based on the Wiener filter. We could achieve an MTF performance of direct detectors for x-ray images acquired from a columnar CsI(Tl)-scintillator mammography detector.
