Abstract

The initial processing of multiple pass SAR is to accurately register multiple SAR images of the same terrain acquired by repeat satellite orbit. The conventional method usually registers image pairs. In this paper, image registration of multiple SAR images is investigated. Two new methods are proposed. One is a minimal distance method using the correlation of multiple images rather than image pairs. The other is based on image model matching to reduce the computational cost. The results of processing SAR images produced by ERS-1 show that the image model matching approach registers multiple images more precisely than the conventional method for image pairs.
