Abstract

The urban space propagates sensations that the individual, when crossing the city, visually interprets its context, experiencing emotions provoked by the attractiveness of its set. Methodologically, when considering the procedures, the research is clearly divided into two moments: the first is linked to the theoretical field constituted by a bibliographical review and the second by a case study and field survey with the investigative objective of analyzing the different emotional implications that the urban composition transmits, when walking through segments of the center of the city of Ijuí/RS, with the purpose of interpreting and relating the main visual impressions to the fundamentals spread by Gordon Cullen. It is evident that the interpretation of sensations and feelings experienced in the day-to-day life of people who cross the paths that make up the city, become the creation of spaces that reflect this attentive and sensitive look, culminating in more effective results in terms of functionality and well-being.
