Abstract

The evaluation of the image quality of the angiography imaging system used at the Medical Beamline of European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF) is presented. A two-line 432-pixel germanium detector is utilized in the human coronary angiography program. The performances have been measured with two monochromatic beams, with energies above and below the iodine K-edge. The large-area transfer characteristics (response curve), the spatial detail transfer performance (modulation transfer function (MTF)) and the noise properties (noise power spectrum (NPS)) have been measured and used to compute the frequency-dependent detective quantum efficiency DQE of the system.
