Abstract

A model for software parallel computing of packed data as grey-level and binary images is presented. This semiparallel processing system is divided into five layers, three of which are described in detail; low-level parallel operations, high-level parallel operations and procedures for image processing. The system has been implemented on a simple sequential minicomputer and an increase of computing speed has been obtained compared with sequential pixel processing. Two suggestions are made for a related hardware work.
