Abstract
When the image reconstructed from a Fourier transform hologram is picked up with a conventional image pickup tube, such as a vidicon, interference fringes which turn out to be an obstructing component are generated in the face plate of the image pickup tube. In this article, the causes of these fringes are discussed and three methods for removing them are described. These experiments include: (1) use of a fiber optics face plate, (2) use of a ground surface face plate, and (3) attaching of a special-shaped glass block. These three methods are equally effective, but the first two methods require the manufacture of a special image pickup tube and therefore the last method is deemed most useful. The reduction of the effects of the interference fringes by means of a multiple object beam hologram is also discussed.
