Abstract

Image enhancement is one of the important task in image processing. It has valuable applications in engineering, science, medical and many more research fields. Numerous image enhancement methods can be found in the literature. Many of them use partial differential equation(PDE). The PDE has been used in image denoising and enhancement. However, it is found that these techniques are unable to preserve image fine details such as edges. In this paper, fractional order partial differential equation (FPDE) based image enhancement model has been proposed. The proposed model reduces the effect of noise and non-linearly enhances contrast of the image. The proposed FPDE has been solved in frequency domain due to simplicity. The qualitative and quantitative study has been done. It has been found that proposed model is having higher performance ratio.
