Abstract
Gravity mapping based on satellite altimetry combined with advanced image enhancement techniques is a fast and cost-effective method for regional tectonic mapping in an early exploration phase. The resulting maps provide an excellent basis for the planning of location and orientation of seismic surveys. This paper focusses on the Barents Sea area. A satellite gravity map is generated, processed by means of image enhancement techniques and compared with the recent structural map of Johansen et. al. (1992).
