Abstract

Purpose: Resection of large intraosseous sphenoid wing meningiomas is traditionally associated with significant morbidity. Reconstructive cranioplasty with autologous bone is difficult and time-consuming. Rapid prototyping techniques have become widely used for simulation of operative procedures and the prefabrication of custom-made implants. Yet, the transfer of a treatment plan into the intraoperative situs strongly depends on the imagination and experience of the operative surgeon.
