Abstract
Image compression is essential for different applications such as transmission and storage in data bases. Two methods use for image compression- lossy and lossless. In this paper we discuss about the image compression and propose a new method of lossy image compression. Its principle is based on absolute moment block truncation coding (AMBTC).
