Abstract

In my last column on The Stafford Report, I mentioned that the chairman, Robert Francis QC, was particularly moved by the accounts of bad care that were received by the enquiry team. The following are extracts taken from these case, which not only deserve to be read in their entirety in volume 2 of the repor, but illustrate to all nurses the terrible impact that poor nursing care can have on people’s lives. I have grouped these comments under headings which will be familiar to all registered nurses as they indicate some of the essential key concepts of nursing.
