Abstract

Recently, the Lin/Liang and Ohmiya/Nagao groups independently reported their dual-photoredox cobalt-based catalytic methods for alkene hydrohalogenation via metal-catalyzed hydrogen atom transfer (mHAT) and halogen atom transfer (XAT). Besides their immense synthetic merits, these metallaphotoredox approaches reveal detailed mechanistic insights into mHAT- and XAT-mediated processes, providing valuable guidelines for future alkene hydrofunctionalization reaction design.
