Abstract
Abstract The main goal of this chapter is critically to address from a comparative perspective some of the most important issues related to clause typing and the encoding of illocutionary force in Romance, covering such areas as the principal phonological, morphological, syntactic, and lexical correlates of declarative force, interrogative force, exclamative force, imperatival force, and optative/concessive force.
