Abstract
In the temple zone on the Pfaffenberg/Carnuntum the ruins of three temple buildings were discovered. Tem- ples I and II were dealt with in CarnuntumJb 2015 and 2017. Temple III, which is discussed in this article, was positioned centrally between these two and was a podium temple with a westward orientation. In the courtyard, located to the west in front of the temple, two foundations were uncovered which can be ascribed to an altar and a monumental column, simi- larly to the case of Temple I. The finds of inscriptions and sculptures recovered from the area of the templeâs foundations show that this sacred building was also dedicated to Jupiter Optimus Maximus. It can be dated to the end of the 3rd /start of the 4th century AD.
