Abstract

ObjectivesThe aim of this article was to evaluate the literature about the level of safety associated with the use of air-polishing prophilaxis units. Materials and methodsThe professional risk related to powder air-polishing with glycine and sodium bicarbonate was analyzed and the technical characteristics of equipment and materials were highlighted. Results and conclusionsThe removal of dental plaque by air-polishing devices is a fast and effective procedure, but the potential risks associated with it are not always correctly highlighted.
