Abstract
The undergraduate college experience should provide not only intellectual and social development, but also the development of commendable human qualities–this is commonly referred to as character development. Liberal arts colleges pose a special challenge for character development–unlike professional or religious institutions, virtues and values may not be prescribed. This paper responds to the challenge with a process approach.
