Abstract

In this chapter, sensitivity and performance of graphene based surface plasmon resonance (G-SPR) optical bio-sensor is theoretically computed for measurement and detection of hemoglobin (Hb) concentration in human blood using nitride semiconductors (AlN, GaN and InN). Calculation is presented to get the performance for Gold (Au) and Silver (Ag) metals-on-graphene SPR configuration. Addition of aluminum nitride (AlN), gallium nitride (GaN) and indium nitride (InN) between (Au and Ag) metal and graphene layers enhanced overall performance of the biosensor. This study shows that (InN) is superior in contrast to AlN and GaN. This work can motivate for fabrication of a highly sensitive and accurate SPR biosensor to analyze Hb in human blood.
