Abstract
In the descriptive catalogue of the seals the authors have given the measurements for each of the seal impressions. They derived the diameter from the available width of the impression and on this basis calculated the proportion between height and diameter. According to Collon (1981, 12) there is a tendency for Old Babylonian seals to conform to a model with the height of the seal stone being a little more than twice its diameter. This approximate proportion is very useful since, when a seal diverges markedly from it by having a diameter (much) less than half the height, this can indicate a reworked seal.Keywords: Old Babylonian seals; seal impressions; seal stone
