Abstract
Sir, Having an Oppurtunity of discoursing with a Gentleman recommended to me, that came from the Gold Mines in Brazil belonging to the King of Portugal , and brought many Diamonds of considerable Value, lately found in those Places, I thought proper to desire of him an Account of him an Account of the same, being the fittest Person to describe every minute Circumstance of it, as one that has liv'd, and digg'd Gold there for these fifteen Years last past; and he having obliged me with the said Account, in the Portugueze Tongue, I think it will not be unacceptable to the Society, if you will be so good as to offer the Translation of it, which is as follows:
