Abstract
Many of Keith Wards' books have one or more chapters about theodicy. Most extensive on the problem of evil is his book Divine Action from 1990. This chapter focuses on Divine Action , since it is the most thorough. In the foreword of the 2007-print of the book, Ward says that he still defends the main content of what he has written there. The authors' presentation in the chapter is based on Wards' own presentation in Divine Action , but the author highlights elements that are important for the discussion, and arranges the presentation partially in the same order as Swinburne, to ease the comparison. In practice this means that the chapter starts with a presentation of Ward's understanding of God and God's goals with creation, before it presents his theodicy. Keywords: Divine Action ; God's existence; Keith Ward's theodicy; Swinburne's writings
