Abstract

During and after the World War I within the whole Ottoman geography, especially in regions like Trabzon, which were saved from the occupation of the Allies, public security problems proliferated. Thus, maintaining the safety and the order of the community in the local regions by a force other than the military had emerged as a social and political need. The Trabzon Police School, which was inaugurated in 1918, was institutionalized to meet the police force needed in the eastern cities. In the present study, the inauguration process of Trabzon Police School, the recruitment of students operations, the educational activities during the Ottoman State period and the Republic period have been discussed; moreover, the founding principal Asim Bey’s report on the school has been evaluated
