Abstract

This study presents a brief history of the events of the Nigerian-Biafra Civil War and the roles played by women in the Biafra sector. An analysis of women’s coping strategies using the two process model of primary and secondary control shows that rather than privileging one over the other, the women combined both processes in ways that were functional and meaningful in the Biafra cultural context.
