Immunoglobulin A nephropathy is a rare renal condition, and despite a large number of cases progressing to end-stage kidney disease, the mechanisms behind the illness are not fully understood. Haresh Selvaskandan, Melanie Dillon and Jonathan Barratt discuss how having access to an international rare disease registry with data on this disease can help improve kidney care around the world.
