Abstract

This research studies the performance of channel estimation for the single carrier mode of the mmWave PHY in IEEE 802.15.3c(TG3c). The channel estimation sequence (CES) contains pairing Golay complementary sequences with cyclic prefix (CP) extensions. Golay complementary sequences have the property that the sum of the aperiodic auto-correlation functions of pairing sequences is a perfect impulse function. This property can be used to provide channel estimation results with high accuracy. We conduct performance study using the channel estimation sequence employed by Lei and Huang in 2009 and the channel estimation sequence adopted by the IEEE 802.15.3c standard. Without changing the channel estimation sequences, the channel estimation performance can be improved significantly by changing the signal processing methods at the receiver. We also change the cyclic prefix and postfix (CP) in the channel estimation sequences into zero padding (ZP), compare the channel estimation performance, and discuss the guard ratio in channel estimation sequences containing CP and ZP.
