Abstract

The high quality of the lectures and abstracts presented during the 33rd annual meeting of the Aspen Lung Conference largely supplanted my task as conference summarizer for the attendees. This was, in a very positive sense, a humbling conference. It was inspiring to witness the results of outstanding young investigators applying contemporary techniques to the study of lung cell biology. The application of cell and molecular biologic approaches to clinically relevant problems in the lung is exploding, in part reflecting prescient emphasis by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI).
