Abstract

Summary A case of idiopathic jaundice of pregnancyof unknown etiology is reported. This disorder differs from the other types of jaundice occurring during pregnancy. Idiopathic jaundice of pregnancy is a syndrome having its onset in the last trimester, typically preceded by pruritus, and delivery usually leads to spontaneous recovery. Recurrence during subsequent pregnancies is common. Idiopathic jaundice of pregnancy must in particular be distinguished from obstructive jaundice due to gallstones and from viral hepatitis.
