Abstract

A total of 447 peripheral facial palsies has been seen during a 9-year period, 81 % of these being diagnosed as Bell's palsy. The clinical outcome was satisfactory in 89 % of the latter. Low patient age and an intact acoustic reflex were favourable prognostic factors.
