Abstract

IDH mutated gliomas are a group of diffuse glioma characterized by a mutation in either the IDH1 or IDH2 gene. These mutations are present in 70% of all grade 2 and grade 3 glioma. IDH mutations (mt) are now key for the WHO classification of Brain Tumors, tumros are diagnosed as as astrocytoma, IDHmt or an oligodendroglioma if accompanied by 1p/19q co-deletion. IDH mutated tumors produce an oncometabolite, 2-hydroxyglutarate which accumulation is the cause of many characteristics of IDH mutated tumors, including the sensitivity to radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
