Abstract

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic had affected the access to the healthcare services around the world. During the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic that occurred in Kuwait on Feb 24th, 2020, the official health authorities implemented public health measures such as curfews, total lockdowns, and diabetes clinics' unavailability, along with limited access to healthcare services. The second wave of the pandemic was declared on March 7, 2021; virtual visits, diabetes clinics‘ availability, and easier access to the hospitals might change the Diabetes Ketoacidosis (DKA) at presentation and the requirement of ICU admission in children with Type 1 Diabetes (T1D) onset in the second wave.
