Abstract
Background: The “Campanha Nacional Gratuita em Diabetes de Prevenção das Complicações, Detecção, Orientação e Educação” is an initiative carried out by the Associação Nacional de Atenção ao Diabetes (ANAD), a philanthropic institution accredited by the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) as a center of excellence and education in diabetes. Extension undergraduate at the Escola Paulista de Enfermagem da Universidade Federal de São Paulo (UNIFESP), through the ‘‘Projeto de Extensão Cuidar-te’’, have participated in the aforementioned campaign for over 20 years, working to integrate such tracking and education actions in diabetes.
