Abstract

Background: Individual cases of Covid-19 patients who had traveled from China were diagnosed in Europe in mid-February 2020 in several different western countries, like Italy, before the virus quickly began spreading. In the Eastern European countries, the first cases were detected in the end of February 2020 (in Croatia, North Macedonia, Romania), mostly as imported cases from the Western countries. Cardio-metabolic disorders, including diabetes and obesity are considered as high-impact pre-existing conditions and have been found to be predictors of mortality for SARS-CoV-2 infections.
