Abstract

Background: Diabetes is the leading cause of end-stage kidney disease (ESKD) worldwide and is prevalent amongst Asians. The glucokinase regulator (GCKR) modulates glucokinase activity by forming an inhibitory complex and influences multiple metabolic pathways. Some studies have reported associations of GCKR polymorphisms with renal function and chronic kidney disease, however, the association of rs1260326 polymorphism with albuminuria and risk of ESKD remains unclear.
