Abstract

This chapter describes the importance of teacher education strategic alliances between government, teacher education institutions, and school sites. It highlights to seize the real practical problems that teacher education institutions and school sites face every day, and reformulate the curriculum and instruction that teacher education programs provided to fit the real needs of schooling. The definition of a teacher education strategic alliance is the triangular cooperative relationship between the bureaus of education, teacher education institutions, and K-12 schools. It refers to all the teacher education processes, including pre-service teacher education, the teaching of interns, teacher certification and recruitment, and in-service teacher training and teacher professional development. After the literature review, documentary analysis, and focus group discussions, the principal investigator proposed 28 strategies for teacher education strategic alliances in Taiwan and conducted a questionnaire survey to educational stakeholders all over the country.
