Abstract

In their activities against the Communist Party and Marxist-Leninist ideology, Chang Po-chun, Lo Lung-chi, and others tried to seize key positions in science and culture. Certain scholars - historians, philosophers, economists, and others who assumed the task of providing theoretical substantiation for rightist views - played an active part in the implementation of the right-wing faction's program. According to the Chinese press, the most active participants in attempts at the restoration of bourgeois historical sciences and sociology were: Lei Hai-tsung (instructor, Tientsin University), Jung Meng-yuan (research fellow, Third Institute of History of the Chinese Academy of Sciences), Hsiang Ta (deputy director, Second Institute of History of the Chinese Academy of Sciences), Ch'en Meng-chia ([research] fellow, Institute of Archeology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences), Fei Hsiao-t'ung (deputy director, Central Institute of Nationalities), T'ao Ta-yung (professor, Peking Pedagogical Institute), and others.
