Abstract

A system is described which interrogates coded transponders with a continuous unmodulated microwave transmission at 10.7 GHz. The interrogator uses a cheap mass-produced microwave Doppler radar module, and the transponder consists of an ordinary detector diode plus a battery-powered modulator to generate the code. The miniature batteries used last about a year and 10 m range can be obtained.
