Abstract

Based on a restudy of the type, the milliped Polydesmus hamatus Brandt 1841, appears to belong to the Malagasy genus Dalodesmus Cook 1896, with closest affinities with D. hova (de Saussure & Zehntner 1897) which was also restudied from type material. Two junior primary homonyms, Polydesmus hamatus Verhoeff 1897 (Carpathians) and Polydesmus hamatus Loska 1960 (southern China) are renamed and/or reallocated as Polydesmus burzenlandicus Verhoeff 1925, subspecies ceucai nom. nov., and? Epanerchodus sinensis comb. nov. & nom. nov., respectively.
