Abstract

OCD is associated with two forms of abnormal sensory processing: sensory over-responsivity (SOR: the tendency to be bothered by external sensory stimuli) and sensory phenomena (SP: internally-generated and distressing sensory experiences driving repetitive behaviors); both, associated with severity and treatment resistance. However, it remains unclear whether SOR and SP co-occur or are independent features. We therefore examined the relationships between SOR, SP, and related constructs in OCD.
