Abstract

A and B formations are two carbonate systems of Iran that contain significant oil reserves. Comprehensive geological and geophysical investigations revealed that three main reservoirs exist in these regions. In this study it is tried to detect these reservoirs through analyzing different wireline logs data in time-scale space instead of time-frequency space. In time-scale space signals are decomposed to high-frequency and low-frequency portions while high-frequency ones might be used for investigating break-down points or changes in lithology. Several logs data are transformed to time-scale space to be studied using wavelet technique. Obtained results illustrate that the combination of sonic, Gamma ray and resistivity logs can provide exact locations of target reservoirs that are identified by geological models. Method used in this study might be used for early reservoir boundaries detection and reducing the high expenses of coring operations.
