Abstract

Purpose: It has been well established that individuals with history of intra-articular lower extremity injury are at high risk of post-traumatic osteoarthritis. Therefore, the primary prevention of post-traumatic osteoarthritis in the lower extremity joints should focus the prevention of joint injuries in susceptible populations, such as youth participating in physical activities. There is substantial evidence demonstrating that neuromuscular training (NMT) warm-up programs are effective in reducing injury risk among youth.
