Abstract

Mechanoresponsive molecules called mechanophores fluoresce when they experience sufficient force. By incorporating mechanophores into the matrix of a rigid particle reinforced composite, the local stress concentrations in the polymer matrix around the particle can be seen by fluorescence microscopy. Further details can be found in the article number 2101080 by Chelsea S. Davis and co-workers.
