Abstract

β-(m-Hydroxyphenyl)hydracrylic acid has been identified in human urine by gas chromatography, high and low reso ution mass spectrometry, and proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. A rapid and conclusive method is presented for the identification of this acid as its methyl ester and/or its methyl ester trimethylsilyl ether derivative by combined gas chromatography-mass spectrometry.
