Abstract

AbstractAbsorption and magnetic circular dichroism spectra of KI:Pb2+ single crystals are investigated at temperatures from 80 to 375 K, which are compared with the spectra of KBr:Pb2+. The absorption spectra of KI:Pb2+ at 80 K show five bands centred at 348.0, 290, 273.1, 252.3, and 225 nm, which are assigned to the so‐called A, B, C, D′, and D bands, respectively. The D″ and D bands are attributed to the electron transfer from I− to Pb2+ in a PbI4−6 complex ion.
