Abstract

Two-hundred thirty students completed both the Facts on Aging Quiz (FAQ) and the Knowledge of Aging and the Elderly (KAE)questionnaire. Participants with positive- or negative-biases towards the elderly were differentiated by their responses to items of positive and negative valence on both the FAQ and KAE. Negatively-biased respondents had significantly lower overall scores on the FAQ than those with a positive bias, but no such difference was observed on the KAE. he susceptibility of the FAW to bias suggests that the KAE would be preferred when assessing gerontological knowledge without the confound of bias.
